Care with intention

When the past still feels present.

Difficult experiences can continue to shape how you feel and respond, even when you understand that they are over. EMDR offers a structured approach to exploring distressing memories and their connections to present-day reactions. Brenda begins by learning about your experience and assessing whether this approach is appropriate for you.

What EMDR is

EMDR uses guided bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements, to help the brain safely reprocess traumatic memories and reduce their emotional intensity.

How it differs from talk therapy

EMDR does not require detailed retelling of a distressing event or homework between sessions. It follows a clear eight-phase protocol that prioritizes safety, readiness, and integration.

What to expect

Work begins with preparation and stabilization. Once EMDR is a good fit, targeted reprocessing can begin.

What to expect

A clear beginning.
Your pace.

Therapy is collaborative. There is room to ask questions, share what is working, and adjust the focus together.

  1. Prepare before processing

The first stage focuses on your history, goals, current supports, and ways to manage distress. You and Brenda discuss readiness and what you need to feel supported during online sessions.

  2. Work with selected memories

When appropriate, Brenda guides the work using bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements. You can pause, ask questions, and discuss your experience throughout the session.

  3. Close with care and review

Time is set aside to help you feel grounded at the end of a session. Later appointments revisit how you are doing and whether the pace or focus needs to change.

Start with a conversation

You do not need to have it all figured out.

Talk with Brenda about what you are carrying, what you hope will change, and how therapy might support you.
